Jewelry

Overview

Jewelry is the most versatile enchant surface in the game. Alone among your gear it accepts two completely different kinds of enchantment: the skill-enchantment reagents that clothes use, and elemental tomes that nothing else can take. Each piece has six slots, and how you fill them is one of the more interesting build decisions you will make.

Two Paths per Slot

Every one of a piece's six slots can hold either a skill-enchantment reagent — sharpening a chosen skill, exactly as clothes do (see Clothes) — or an elemental tome. Every slot spent on the elements is a slot not spent on your skills, so jewelry constantly asks you to choose between being sharper and being warded.

Elemental Tomes

Each elemental tome grants 10% protection against its element. Fill all six slots of a piece with fire tomes and it grants 60% fire protection on its own. Because jewelry stacks across pieces, the numbers climb quickly.

Turning Damage Into Healing

Here is where it gets strange. Two fully fire-enchanted pieces grant up to 120% fire protection — and once you pass 100%, incoming fire stops hurting you and starts healing you. A fire mage throwing everything they have at such a build is simply topping up its health. The same trick works for any element you can push past 100%, turning a particular enemy's greatest strength into your best source of healing. It costs nearly all your jewelry slots to build for, but against the right foe it is devastating.

In Short

Six flexible slots per piece: skills, elements, or a mix. Spread thin for balance, or go all-in on one element and turn its damage into medicine.
