Weapons & Armor

Weapons and armor

Overview

Weapons and armor are the working core of any kit — what you strike with, and what keeps you standing. They are also the only gear in Unyha that accepts the two combat tomes: tomes of destruction and tomes of protection. Everything you do to make a weapon deadlier or a suit of armor tougher runs through this pair.

Enchanting Weapons

A weapon takes tomes of destruction. Each weapon has six enchant slots, and spending a destruction tome into a slot pours offensive power into the blade, bow, or staff — stacked across all six, the gap between a plain weapon and a fully enchanted one is enormous. Destruction tomes go into weapons and nowhere else.

Enchanting Armor

Armor takes tomes of protection, the same way and with the same six slots. Each protection tome hardens the piece against harm, and a fully enchanted suit is a wall. Remember that armor closes you off from the world's aliveness — a mage cannot wear it at all (see Magic & the Arcane) — so this is the domain of the Warrior and the Ranger.

Worth Keeping

Because a fully enchanted weapon or piece of armor represents so much invested power, these are exactly the objects worth binding into an heirloom and passing down (see Equipment and Heirlooms). A named, fully-enchanted blade is among the most valuable things a House can own.

In Short

Six slots, one tome type each: destruction for weapons, protection for armor. Simple to state — and the foundation of every fighting build in Unyha.
