Traveling

Overview
Unyha is a large world, and crossing it is part of the game. How fast you get somewhere — and how much of yourself arrives intact — depends on the route you take, the risks you accept, and how many Unyha Trees you have found along the way.
Roads and Speed
Stick to the roads. Traveling along a road grants a movement speed boost, making the built paths noticeably faster than cutting cross-country through open wilderness. Roads are the arteries of the world: quicker, usually safer, and the natural way to move between towns and regions — and faster still from the back of a mount. Leave the road for the wild and you trade speed for whatever you were hoping to find out there.
Mounts
Nothing crosses Unyha faster than a mount, and there are many to choose from. You can buy a horse from an animal trainer in town, or tame your own — mounts come in many forms, from common horses to rarer and stranger steeds for those with the taming skill to handle them (see Taming).
A mount is a companion, and it takes up a companion slot. Most Spiritfolk can keep only one companion at a time, so for the majority of players a mount is that single companion — mount or pet, not both. A Ranger who has specialized in taming can keep more, riding while still fielding pets or a whole pack (see Taming and Party Play).
Don't be too precious with your mount, though. Like any pet, a fallen mount can be revived at an animal trainer, and you can summon it back to your side with a call — so a lost or dead steed is an inconvenience, not a catastrophe. Ride boldly.
Falling
A fall in Unyha will never kill you outright — but it will come close on purpose. However far you drop, a fall strips away 99% of your current health, leaving you at a bare sliver, and saddles you with the Crippled condition, a movement penalty that leaves you limping. You survive the landing; you just arrive at the bottom nearly dead and barely able to move. And that is the real danger: the fall itself cannot finish you, but a hostile creature waiting where you land very easily can. Dropping down a cliff can be a shortcut — just never assume the ground below is empty.
Fast Travel: The Unyha Trees
Every Unyha Tree you visit becomes a permanent fast-travel destination. Once you have stood at a Tree, you can teleport back to it from anywhere, so the more of the world you explore on foot, the more of it opens up to instant travel later. Fast travel is not free of limits, though: it shares a five-minute cooldown with Recall Home, drawing on the same timer. Recall Home is your escape hatch — a teleport straight to your home point to get out of trouble — but because it and fast travel run on that one shared timer, using either puts the other on cooldown too. Fast-travel to a Tree and you cannot recall home for five minutes, and vice versa. So the risk is not that escape is unreliable; it is getting caught mid-cooldown. Don't spend your teleport right before you might need it to flee.
In Short
Take the roads to cover ground, the Trees to leap across the map, and think twice before every long drop. Travel in Unyha rewards the Spiritfolk who has already been everywhere — the map belongs to those who walked it first.
